This can be a solution over the dissatisfaction that several women experience toward the regular working world and offers equality in opportunities for both men and women.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Digital transformation in Indonesia became one of the factors that provides and equalizes access for women to embark on entrepreneurship, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate stated.

Digital transformation allows women to be at par with men in terms of developing a digital ecosystem, Plate noted during the Women in Digital Entrepreneurship: #RecoverTogether with Digital Entrepreneurship hybrid event from Tangerang on Thursday.

"This (digital transformation) offers women flexibility to become a housewife and also entrepreneurs as well as workers. This can also serve as a realization of non-discrimination action," he noted.

"This can be a solution over the dissatisfaction that several women experience toward the regular working world and offers equality in opportunities for both men and women," he remarked.

Women play the main role in the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia during the digital transformation period, Plate stated.

This is because women contributed to 60 percent of the total 58 million MSMEs in Indonesia.

The role of Indonesian women supports the findings in Google's survey in 2020 titled "Advancing Women in Entrepreneurship" which states women have a high level of participation in Southeast Asia in terms of entrepreneurship.

However, in the survey, women entrepreneurs still encountered hurdles, specifically in terms of the lack of business network and marketing skills.

Hence, coinciding with the celebration of 2022 Kartini Day, Plate's ministry encouraged more women in Indonesia to play an active role in delving into digitalization to develop their businesses.

The minister also urged industry actors involved in the nation's digital ecosystem to provide support in the form of training and skills development program to improve contemporary women's talents.

"Let us support modern Kartinis to migrate as well as Indonesians to enter the digital space for the prosperity of the nation and the people together," he remarked.

"Let us emulate the fighting spirit of Raden Ajeng Kartini to serve the nation," he added.
