This innovation is expected to increase the collection of zakat (alms), infaq (disbursements), and sedekah (simple alms), so that the number of beneficiaries will increase
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Alms Agency (Baznas) launched the Cinta Zakat (Love Alms) application in a bid to intensify fundraising campaigns to help people in need in various remote areas in the country.

"This innovation is expected to increase the collection of zakat (alms), infaq (disbursements), and sedekah (simple alms), so that the number of beneficiaries will increase," Director of National Zakat Collection Strengthening at Baznas Fitriansyah Agus Setiawan noted in a press statement on Monday.

Setiawan explained that campaigns in the Cinta Zakat application would be optimized and managed by Baznas, including by its offices at the province, district, and city levels.

The same also applies to the distribution process to ensure that the funds collected can be distributed directly to the beneficiaries.

The Cinta Zakat application is also expected to encourage the achievement of the digital fundraising target of Rp175 billion set by Baznas for 2022.

Positive achievements continue to be recorded in digital fundraising at Baznas, with continued increase every year. Since 2020, the collection of zakat, infaq, and sedekah by Baznas from the digital sector was recorded to have continually increased and exceeded the set target.

In 2021, Baznas' digital fundraising had reached Rp137 billion, up from the initial target of Rp120 billion.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), this is due to the positive impacts of innovations and breakthroughs made by Baznas to facilitate people in paying zakat," he stated.

Setiawan affirmed that his agency will continue to intensify the collection of zakat, infaq, and sedekah from various sectors.

"All of these efforts are aimed at optimizing various humanitarian programs initiated by Baznas for the welfare of the people," he remarked.

"It must be admitted that the ease of digital transactions has triggered an increase in zakat from the public, and the trend will continue to increase from time to time. For this reason, the Cinta Zakat application, as one of the digital channels of Baznas, is expected to make it easier for muzakki (zakat givers) to pay zakat, infaq, and sedekah," he stated.
