North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim Ali encouraged Jakartans, particularly those in North Jakarta, to experience up close the full potential of JIS, developed as a multipurpose venue, while celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
Ali urged residents to not organize night parades to celebrate the end of Ramadan, locally known as takbiran, to prevent road accidents.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also invited residents to spend the eve of Eid al-Fitr at local mosques or by visiting the stadium, he added.
"Hence, residents can refrain from organizing night parades to prevent road accidents. Governor Baswedan also said that (residents) can do the takbiran at mosques or visit the Jakarta International Stadium to celebrate (the end of Ramadan) together," the mayor noted here on Friday.
During takbiran, Ali noted that each of Jakarta's five administrative cities and one administrative district will send their bedug (large drum traditionally used to signal prayer times) percussion team to perform at the stadium.
"North Jakarta will send a team of six to 10 persons, complete with their percussion instruments, (to perform at the stadium)," Ali revealed.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Municipal Police Head Senior Commissioner Wibowo confirmed that some 117 police officers will be dispatched to secure the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the stadium on the following day.
"It is one of (the focus areas) of our security operation, and we will ready 117 personnel to secure the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Jakarta International Stadium," the police chief noted.
Securing the Eid prayer at the stadium is one of the main objectives of the Operasi Ketupat Eid security operation to prevent any disruption to security and public order during the Eid al-Fitr period in the region, he noted.
