The president, first lady, and youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, arrived at the palace at 9 a.m. local time (UTC +7) and were welcomed by Princess Mangkubumi, Princess Condrokirono, and Princess Hayu. The princesses then escorted the first family to the palace compound and met Hamengkubuwono X.
After conversing for about half an hour, Jokowi, the Sultan, and Princess Mangkubumi appeared at the Royal Palace's Keben Court to bid farewell to one another.
"I spend this year's Eid al-Fitr in Yogyakarta because I want to visit (the Sultan). To the Sultan, Queen Hemas, and the royal family, I wish all of you a happy Eid al-Fitr, apologies for my past wrongdoings," the president stated.
He then expressed gratitude that his encounter with the Sultan as well as the Eid al-Fitr prayer he earlier performed at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace had all been conducted smoothly.
"The Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Gedung Agung Presidential Palace has been conducted well and smoothly, and praise be to God, we can celebrate Eid al-Fitr again this year," Jokowi stated.
