Earlier, Head of Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi appealed to the Eid al-Fitr exodus travelers to return earlier to Jakarta to avoid major traffic jams.
“(This is especially pertinent) since May 6-8, 2022, will be the peak of the 2022 Eid Al-Fitr returning period," he stated.

Shantyabudi has estimated a high number of vehicles amid the period.
Hence, he assessed that the travelers returning to Jakarta before May 6, 2022, will have a more comfortable trip since it will reduce the number of vehicles during the peak period.
"However, if you are still able to take more leaves, you should return after May 9, 2022. It is for the common good,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Shantyabudi has ensured that his side is ready to handle the returning traffic and urged the public to follow the instructions from the corps.
He affirmed that the corps and other stakeholders had also implemented other forms of traffic engineering, including the contraflow and odd-even plate number restriction schemes, to handle traffic congestion.
“Our attempts are intended to assist all travelers," he added.
