Jakarta (ANTARA) - Region-owned enterprise (BUMD) PT Transport Jakarta (TransJakarta) has informed that its free tour bus program, which was implemented from May 3–11, 2022, during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, served more than 56 thousand tourists.

"We expect the service we provided can give joyful experiences to the tourists during the holiday," head of the corporate communications and social responsibility department of the company, Iwan Samariansyah, said here on Thursday.

The tourists’ enthusiastic response to the service had increased public demand for continuing the operation of the tour buses, he added.

Earlier, the service had been temporarily suspended as part of efforts to curb the transmission of COVID-19 in the public transportation sector.

"Hence, we will evaluate the recent operation first. Considering that the Jakarta government is still implementing community activity restrictions (PPKM), health protocols have become an important aspect, which must be evaluated to ensure passengers’ safety and comfort," the official said.

TransJakarta deployed eight double-decker buses, with a maximum capacity of 80 passengers each, for the service.

Samariansyah said that the buses had a friendly design for customers, including people with disabilities using wheelchairs.
