What is most important is that we see this moment as an opportunity to positively help in sharing the industry's future that was unprecedented.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy cooperates with a global online travel agency (OTA) platform in order to help stimulate the recovery of tourism in Indonesia.

The cooperation was marked by an agreement inked by the Ministry's Marketing Acting Deputy, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, with the company's CEO witnessed by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

In a press statement on Saturday, Adnyani noted that the ministry believes tourism will recover and return to the pre-pandemic level.

This is because vaccination distribution has increased, cases have declined, and the restriction regulation in border areas has reduced, he noted.

"What is most important is that we see this moment as an opportunity to positively help in sharing the industry's future that was unprecedented," he stated.

Through the agreement inking, both parties agreed to improve brand awareness from the Wonderful Indonesia initiative.

This is implemented through endeavors comprising collective promotion efforts focused on the landing page, digital promotion through owned channel, technical consultation, and expertise sharing.

The three-year agreement was designed to develop tourism and creative economy marketing in Indonesia that can revive the travel landscape in the country.

Andyani deemed that this online travel agency platform, Agoda, has a technological advantage and marketing optimization.

This advantage will help the ministry to encourage awareness of Indonesia's diversity and beauty among tourists, both local and overseas.

The ministry also has keen interest in partnering with the international platform to echo the reopening message to global tourists.

This is because Indonesia had opened more than 20 arrival gateways and revoked all quarantine requirements for tourists, who had been completely vaccinated to boost international tourism.

In addition, the government had reimplemented the visa free program for ASEAN citizens that visit Indonesia.
