Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate, has announced the opening of registrations for the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) and the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) programs across Indonesia.

As many as 73 thousand people have registered for the 2022 DTS and DLA programs out of the 200 thousand targeted participants.

"As of today (May 17, 2022), 73 thousand participants have been registered. There are more than 120 participants left (who can register). These programs cover all corners of the country in 34 provinces, 514 districts and cities—anyone can register," Plate said, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday.

The number of participants has been capped at 200 thousand, he highlighted. Therefore, prospective participants must complete the requirements, submit documents, and take part in the programs seriously.

The minister said that DTS is an applied program for millennials. Aside from increasing competency through a quality curriculum, the program also aims to provide participants with the skills needed for future jobs.

Those skills cover artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, cyber security, virtual reality, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

For the DTS program, the ministry is cooperating with 154 universities and polytechnics in Indonesia, the minister noted.

Triple-helix collaboration, namely collaboration between the government, universities, and companies is essential to create adequate and quality digital talents, he said.

Meanwhile, head of the Human Resources Research and Development Agency at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Hary Budiarto, informed about the technical terms and conditions for people wanting to register for the program.

"When they register, they will get an account and then be asked to complete administrative selections, such as ID cards, diplomas, and so on. After that, there will be a substance test for those who are selected," he explained.

The Digital Talent Scholarship and the Digital Leadership Academy are annual programs that the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has offered for the past few years.

This year, the Digital Talent Scholarship program will cover seven academies—the Vocational School Graduate Academy, Government Transformation Academy, Digital Entrepreneurship Academy, Professional Academy, Thematic Academy, Fresh Graduate Academy, and Talent Scouting.

Meanwhile, the Digital Leadership Academy program will be offered to 550 stakeholders in the digital sector—from the government as well as the private sector.

For the program, the ministry has collaborated with eight foreign universities, including Tsinghua University, Harvard Kennedy School, Oxford University, and the National University of Singapore.
