Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics invited G20 delegates attending the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) to enjoy the beauty of Prambanan Temple.

"Indonesia has many temples due to our diversity. Most of these reside in Java, such as Borobudur and Prambanan," Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate stated at the Prambanan Temple Complex here on Wednesday evening.

The G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the G20 Presidency this year.

The DEWG is one of the working groups of the G20 that focuses on issues related to the digital economy and highlights the central role of digital transformation in the broader context of economic and social growth.

On Wednesday night, G20 DEWG delegates dined while enjoying an art performance held against the backdrop of Prambanan Temple.

While delivering his remarks, the minister provided a short history of the Prambanan Temple—the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, and even Southeast Asia.

Ever since its establishment, the historical temple has managed to survive various ordeals and disasters, including earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The temple that stands now has been restored a few times.

Plate likened the resiliency of Prambanan Temple in handling challenges to the current conditions where problems can be handled through collaboration.

"We expect that, with this Indonesia G20 Presidency, we can survive against this difficult time. Recover together, recover stronger," he remarked.

The minister also revealed Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara as the location for the third Digital Economy Working Group meeting in July.

The government is preparing dozens of cities in Indonesia for hosting the main and supporting G20 events this year.

According to the data provided by the ministry until February pegs the number of main events at 183 and supporting events of the Indonesian G20 Presidency at 236.

The G20 forum will also be utilized to introduce the richness and potential of Indonesia to delegates attending the events in person.

The holding of G20 events in different cities is also expected to directly benefit the people, for instance, through infrastructure development or workforce absorption.
