"The Army chief of staff will not tolerate any law violation committed by Army officers. If an officer is found violating laws, then they must be processed according to the prevailing laws," the Army's Head of Information Office Brigadier General Tatang Subarna noted in his statement here on Wednesday.
Subarna confirmed that the five army officers, identified as accomplices in the Perangin-angin's human cage case, have been incarcerated at the Regional Military Command I/Bukit Barisan's Military Police prison.
"It is correct that the five Army officers that have been named suspects by investigators have all been arrested, and their investigation case files will be handed over to the Medan Military Prosecutor," Subarna noted.
He remarked that investigators of the regional military command are still investigating the five Army officers implicated in the case.
"Anyone proven to be involved in the human cage case will be processed according to law," the Army office head emphasized.
The five officers handed over to the Medan Military Prosecutor are identified by their initials as SG, AF, LS, S, and MP, he stated.
Earlier, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa stated that 10 military officers were declared as suspects for their involvement in inactive Langkat District Head Perangin-angin's human cage case.
"We still continue (to investigate) the Langkat case. Earlier, nine military officers (were declared as suspects), though now, the number has increased to 10," Perkasa stated after meeting Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board's (PBNU's) Chairperson Yahya Cholil Staquf here on Monday.
He affirmed that the legal process against the officers would continue to ensure that all individuals involved in the case will be punished and the families of victims will receive justice.
