Palu, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) has urged all elements of society in Indonesia, including in Central Sulawesi, to collectively handle and prevent the growth of intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism.

Speaking here on Wednesday, BNPT's prevention, protection, and deradicalization deputy, Nisan Setiadi, said that, for optimizing the mitigation of radicalism and terrorism, the agency has adopted the pentahelix concept.

This means that all elements and components of society—whether the government, media, business world, academicians, or communities—must work together against radicalism.

This is because the responsibility of handling radicalism and terrorism does not solely rest with the government or BNPT, but rather on all elements and components of society.

Radicalism poses a serious threat to Indonesia's unity and to the country's ideology, he said.

"Hence, unity and participation from various parties in tackling radicalism are very important," he added.

In relation to this, the Central Sulawesi National and Political Unity (Kesbangpol) Agency has invited everyone in the region to join the fight against radicalism and terrorism.

The agency expects all elements of society to make radicalism and terrorism mitigation their main priority, its head, Fahruddin Yambas, said.

A union to protect the integrity of the country will be formed through synergy and cooperation from all parties, including the central and regional governments.

Through this synergy, efforts to mitigate and prevent intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism will become more optimal, he added.

According to Kesbangpol Agency data, at least 38 institutions, ministries, agencies, and forums, including the Press Council, have joined the terrorism prevention and mitigation action plan at the national and regional levels.

The institutions have been accommodated by the BNPT through the formation of synergy task forces at the national and regional levels.

The task forces will execute the terrorism prevention action plan.
