Davos, Swiss (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held bilateral meetings with Swiss corporate union Économiesuisse and several CEOs of Swiss companies on strengthening sustainable energy cooperation.

"Currently, we have a sustainable council project with them. Switzerland is interested in investing in Indonesia, especially in the sustainable energy and infrastructure sectors," Head of Kadin’s Swiss Bilateral Committee Francis Wanandi said.

He conveyed the information after holding a bilateral meeting, as part of the Business 20 (B20) roadshow, with Économiesuisse at the Indonesia Pavilion at the 2022 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday evening (GMT+2).

The Indonesian and Swiss delegates planned to make blueprints on various aspects that can be the subject of cooperation with Swiss companies, such as technology, investment, as well as labor, he added.

The textile industry became one of the main sectors discussed at the meeting since it is one of the sectors that damage the environment the most.

Since Swiss companies have a number of technologies for reducing pollution and managing waste, they welcomed collaboration with the Indonesian textile association for resolving pollution and waste problems.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Kadin Arsjad Rasjid said that Indonesia has launched a Kadin Net Zero Hub program as a platform for private companies to share information, knowledge, and technology for reducing greenhouse gases.

"We have a working group (on greenhouse reduction) and are very open to (new) participants. In addition, human capital development is also an important key for implementing sustainable development," he said.

Furthermore, the 2022 B20 chair, Shinta Kamdani, said that sustainable energy is also one of the concerns of Indonesia as the current president of the G20 and Kadin as the organizer of the B20.

"Kadin raised the (sustainability) issue since we want to show that we are committed to it. Through Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and the implementation of the 2022 B20 by Kadin, the President (Joko Widodo) expects us to have concrete actions,” she remarked.

Although Switzerland is not a member of the G20, Kadin is hoping to enlist the country as Indonesia's partner in the future, especially through the sustainable council project.

The results of the bilateral meeting will be evaluated in June 2022, thus, when the B20 Summit takes place in November 2022, Kadin will already have prepared a mature cooperation concept that will be ready to implement.
