Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday confirmed that the former Yogyakarta mayor has been caught red-handed for bribery.

"It is true, today KPK caught red-handed several people suspected of committing a bribery crime in Yogyakarta," acting spokesperson for KPK, Ali Fikri, informed in Jakarta on Thursday.

One of those who were caught red-handed was the former Yogyakarta mayor, identified by his initials as HS, he said.

However, he refused to divulge further details about the case.

He said a KPK team is in the process of interrogating the people who were caught red-handed.

"Shortly after the interrogation is completed, we will make public the latest developments in the case," he added.

Based on the Penal Code, KPK has 1x24 hours to decide the legal status of those nabbed in connection with the case.
