The Executive Board of the National Medical Association (IDI) took part in the formulation of the International Medical Code of Ethics.
"The Code of Medical Ethics is the (core) of the value of the medical profession in its professional service on the basis of professional ethics and moral responsibility towards the public," advisory council at the National Medical Association, Sukman Tulus Putra, remarked in a press release received here on Wednesday.
The meeting, which kicked off since the start of this week, was part of the development of the International Medical Code of Ethics. The association was also represented by Eka Ginanjar from the international relations division and Pukovisa Prawiroharjo from the medical services development council (MPPK).
Putra said the professional code of ethics, as a moral code, was a form of the association's contribution in ensuring cooperation with the Health Ministry to support transformation in the medical sector, which included health services, education, and research.
Prawiroharjo stated that the six pillars of health transformation were strategic policies for the future of the nation's health to relate to the declaration of IDI's role as an agent of change, development, and the health defense system.
He noted that the National Medical Association's proactive stance was an effort to promote transparency in the role of doctors in serving the public by holding on to the basis of professionalism and social dynamics.
Some discussed topics during the meeting were telemedicine services, the role of doctors during emergencies, informed consent, and the principle of patient autonomy.

Ginanjar, who represented the International Relations Division of the association's executive board, said the meeting was a follow-up to the declaration of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, in May 2022.
The forum also served as a platform for the association to improve their global relations.
Apart from the association from Indonesia, the World Medical Association also invited 15 official doctor associations from 15 other countries in the forum.
The executive board of the National Medical Association will also host the World Medical Association conference in Jakarta in July 2022.
