"Universities are required to continue to transform into leading universities that are able to equip their students to become human resources that are intelligent, creative, and innovative, as well as have a complete personality," the minister said as quoted from a written statement received here on Wednesday.
Effendy conveyed the statement after delivering his remarks at the 57th Anniversary of Semarang State University (Unnes).
The minister deems it necessary for all parties to adapt quickly in the current era of the industrial revolution 4.0.
"All universities, including Unnes, as part of higher education institutions in the country, have an obligation to create human resources with digital talents, who utilize digital technology wisely for the benefit and progress of the nation," he stated.
Effendy remarked that Unnes, as one of the state universities in Indonesia, is always required to continue to transform into a leading state university, which is able to support its students in becoming superior and quality human resources.
"All Unnes academics should continue to improve their academic productivity in order to play a role in the development of civilization through quality education," he affirmed.
The minister emphasized that Unnes should also contribute to anticipating the negative impacts presented by the advancements in digital technology by continuing to improve digital literacy.

Effendy pointed out that of the five priorities in the 2020-2024 national development plan, infrastructure and human resources development were the main keys to realizing the 2024 Golden Indonesia vision.
On the occasion, the minister congratulated Unnes that has striven to create quality, excellent, and competitive human resources for the past 57 years.
Effendy expressed optimism that Unnes would continue to improve and increase its contribution to advancing higher education in Indonesia.
