Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government endeavors to expedite the national digital transformation agenda through four strategic sectors, Communication and Informatics Ministry's Secretary General, Mira Tayyiba, stated during the Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Development Roundtable virtual event.

"This strategic step is taken to realize Indonesia as a truly digital nation by guiding the digital ecosystem to become more inclusive, empowering, and sustainable for all," she noted through a press statement on Thursday.

These four strategic sectors comprise digital infrastructure, digital governance, digital economy, and digital citizenship.

The government builds digital telecommunication infrastructure, starting from the backbone to middle-mile and the last mile. The government commits to providing digital connectivity that can be accessed by one and all.

The government strives to provide 4G network that can cover 83,218 villages in 2022.

This is a digital transformation vision that will connect everyone and does not leave anyone behind, Tayyiba affirmed.

The government also pays attention to digital talent skills. To this end, it holds the Digital Literacy Movement and Digital Talent Scholarship programs.

The ministry plans to provide digital literacy training for 15 million people until 2024.

The government also provides training to 300 thousand participants of the Digital Talent Scholarship Program to meet the national demand for nine million digital talents.

Through these programs, people are expected to adopt and develop digital technology productively, safely, and responsibly.

During the meeting, Tayyiba lauded every member country of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for their support for Indonesia's membership in the ITU Council.

The Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Development Roundtable was held on the sidelines of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) on June 6-16, 2022, in Kigali, Rwanda.

Telecommunication ministries and high-ranking officials as well as information and communications technology (ICT) leaders in the private sector participated in this forum.
