Kamil's family prepared Mumtadz's tomb at Islamic Centre, Geger Beas Hamlet, Cimaung sub-district, Bandung district, the hometown of Mumtadz's mother, Atalia Praratya.
Upon its arrival at the burial site at 11:00 a.m., Mumtadz's casket was carried by some military officers acting as pallbearers. Salawat (Praises and salutations for Muhammad) were ceaselessly chanted by family members, relatives, and residents who thronged the burial site to pay their last respects to Mumtadz.
Governor Kamil and his family—wife Atalia, second daughter, and youngest son—sat beside Mumtadz's grave. Kamil's mother, Tjutju Sukaesih, also attended her grandson's burial.
The Muslim call of prayer was then recited before Mumtadz's body was lowered into the grave.
After the call of prayer, Atalia removed the green cloth that shrouded Mumtadz's casket before it was lowered to the grave. Kamil then sprinkled some soil over the casket as cemetery staff completed the task of closing the grave.
Mumtadz's body arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, at 3 p.m. local time (UTC +7) on Sunday (June 12, 2022) and was directly transported to the West Java Governor's official residence in Gedung Pakuan, Bandung.
The funeral procession, led by Governor Kamil, was taken out as soon as the body arrived at the official residence. Residents also thronged the official residence to pay their last respects to Mumtadz.
The body of Mumtadz, who went missing while swimming in Aare River, Bern, Switzerland, late last month, was found in Engehalde Dam, Bern, at 6:50 a.m. Swiss time (UTC +2) on Wednesday (June 8).
