The declaration is an agreement reached by district heads, mayors, religious figures, customary figures, youth figures, female figures, the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), and the community, Waterpauw said when contacted from Manokwari on Thursday.
Copies of the document have also been sent to the leaders of supreme and high state institutions and several ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet.
"The document of declaration supporting the special autonomy policy and new autonomous regions was sent to the President, with copies addressed to the Vice President, the chief of the House of Representatives (DPR), the chief of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the Home Affairs Minister, the Finance Minister, the Law and Human Rights Minister, the Minister of National Development Planning/head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), and the chief of Presidential Staff," he informed.
He said the document of declaration from leaders and community members from diverse backgrounds affirms the determination of the West Papuan people regarding the creation of the new autonomous regions.
"Together with West Papua provincial Forkopmida, district heads, and mayors from throughout West Papua province, customary figures, religious figures, public figures, workers, female figures, and youth figures representing all layers of the West Papua community, we are committed to supporting the implementation of the special autonomy policy in Papua Land," the document of declaration stated.

The leaders and community members have also called for the implementation of the policy in accordance with Law No. 2/2021 to accelerate the development of Papua indigenous people's welfare within the framework of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Before being sent to President Widodo, the document was read out before the working meeting of district heads and mayors of West Papua by Zakarias Horota, in his capacity as secretary of the Papua Customary Council for Doberai Region III, at PKK Building in Afai on June 14, 2022.
Waterpauw said the declaration of support for the creation of new autonomous regions was one of the results of the plenary working meeting of district heads and mayors.

The working meeting served as a coordination forum for regional government heads to synchronize their programs with those of the West Papua provincial government, he added.
"The objective is to support the implementation of government solidity and regional autonomy in order to create a clean, effective, and responsible administration," he said.
