The construction progress continuesJakarta (ANTARA) - The government is currently expediting efforts to develop basic infrastructures, such as logistics access, the Sepaku Semoi Dam, and Mentawir Nursery in the new capital Nusantara, East Kalimantan, an official said.
"The construction of the three basic infrastructures has been commenced," Nusantara Capital City Transition Team's coordinator for communication and information, Sidik Pramono, said here on Friday .
Logistics access, such as road networks, airports, and seaports, are necessary to enhance connectivity and access to develop other infrastructures in the new capital, he said.
The Sepaku Semoi Dam in North Penajam Paser district, East Kalimantan, is being developed as a clean water source for the new capital, he added. The development of logistics access and the dam will be overseen by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, he informed.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry will oversee the development of Mentawir Nursery, also in North Penajam Paser district, which will supply seedlings for land rehabilitation and environmental recovery in the new capital, Pramono said.

The coordinator said that in the second half of 2022, the government will carry out land development to commence major infrastructure projects, which include the government complex.
"The land development phase, included in the planning and implementation phase for the second semester (of 2022), will commence soon," Pramono added.
Earlier, Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority Bambang Susantono had stated that logistics access and access for infrastructure development will be developed in the second half of 2022.
In 2023, the government will bring 150 thousand–200 thousand workers to the new capital to expedite the construction process, he added.

The government is planning to proceed with the construction of the new capital in three stages. The first stage that will proceed until 2024 will include the construction of core infrastructures, such as the presidential palace, the parliament complex, government buildings, police and military headquarters, and a housing complex.
Meanwhile, the second stage of the new capital development will take place in the 2025–2035 period and the last stage in the 2035–2045 period.
The total budget required for developing the new capital has been pegged at Rp466 trillion (US$31.2 billion), of which 19–20 percent will be sourced from the state budget, while the remaining funding will be obtained through investments and partnerships with the private sector.
