"As many as 30 percent of those who were previously unemployed are now working or running their own business. As many as 66 percent (beneficiaries) used the certification from the Pre-Employment Card Program to get a job," he said in front of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the program’s beneficiaries at the “#KitaPrakerja (#WePreEmployment) Gathering” at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) here on Friday.
According to Hartarto, the program, which has so far reached 12.8 million beneficiaries, is one of the most massive government-to-people (G to P) programs compared to other countries.
This has made Indonesia the most prepared country at the UNESCO forum regarding digital information, he added.
"The Prime Minister of the Netherlands also wanted to see the Pre-Employment Card Program," he said.
The program supports financial inclusion because as many as 93 percent of the beneficiaries chose to use electronic money, and 28 percent of the beneficiaries were introduced to bank accounts or electronic money through the program.
According to Hartarto, the Pre-Employment Card Program has also succeeded in driving the pre-employment training market, with the government spending around Rp6 trillion on the program.
Meanwhile, executive director of the program's executive management, Denni Puspa Purbasari, revealed that the program’s beneficiaries have reached nearly 13 million of the 115 million people who registered for the card.
Purbasari said that she is proud of the Pre-Employment Card Program because, according to her, one in 10 Indonesian workers is a beneficiary of the program.
The “#KitaPrakerja Gathering” was attended by around eight thousand beneficiaries of the Pre-Employment Card Program. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah, and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil also joined the event.
