Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry is striving to help small and medium industry (IKM) players create products that meet the needs of ministries or institutions using central and regional government as well as state-owned enterprise (SOE) budgets.

This is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction No 2/2022 on expediting the increased utilization of domestic products and products made by micro and small enterprises and cooperatives in government goods or services procurement to make the Proud of Indonesian Products national movement a success.

"This is what use as a benchmark on how our IKM can provide the necessary goods and services," ministry official Reni Yanita noted during an FMB9 online event on Monday.

Therefore, the ministry is helping IKM players so that they can produce competitive products, maintain the quality of their products, and make the desired quantity of products, she informed.

It is also important to ensure the sustainability of IKM businesses, she added.

"We cannot have a ministry or an institution shop in IKM only for it to not produce anymore (products) next year. This is what we also try to maintain," she explained.

The ministry's job is to provide training to resolve IKM's problems such as access to raw materials, technology, and competent human resources. Financing and marketing are also aspects that the ministry is supporting, she noted.

In addition, the ministry is encouraging a partnership program wherein IKM players can become a part of a major industry's supply chain.

By having IKMs enter the supply chains of major industries, the components of everything that major industries and other economic sectors need can be produced by IKMs, Yanita explained.

During the event, she also informed that a total of 14,125 IKMs have joined the digital literacy program at the moment.
