Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has encouraged the acceleration of development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) supporting infrastructure in East Kalimantan.

"It is a long process, and it requires synchronization from many parties, but the KSP is ready to encourage all those processes. Therefore, the coordination meeting is expected to produce materials that can be reported to policymakers," Deputy Chief I of the Presidential Staff Febry C. Tetelepta stated at a coordination meeting across ministries and institutions here on Wednesday.

The coordination meeting, held at the Bina Graha Building in Jakarta, was attended by representatives of the Directorate General of Road Construction (Bina Marga) and the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, and the Acting District Head of Penajam Paser Utara, Ir H. Hamdam.

During this coordination meeting, the KSP supported the rerouting of three district roads -- the Riko-Maridan Road, Telemow Ring Road in Sepaku Sub-district, and Gunung Mulia-Sebakung Jaya Road in Babulu Sub-district -- to be used as national roads.

The central government will also propose that the construction process of the Lawe-Lawe Dam, which had been stalled since 2018, be resumed by the Directorate General of Water Resources.

Tetelepta noted that although the ministry's raw water installation is sufficient for the needs in the IKN area, the Lawe-Lawe Dam could be used for a wider scope of community.

"Then why not prepare it too? In this way, the water needs of the community around IKN can be ensured," he stated.

The KSP will hold a follow-up coordination meeting to continue discussions on the development of supporting infrastructure for the IKN area with relevant ministries and institutions.

Meanwhile, the ministry has also built other supporting infrastructure for clean water supply, including water intakes and river transmission pipelines, the head of Penajam North Paser district, Hamdam Pongrewa stated.
