Later, (packaged) cooking oil, which costs Rp14 thousand, will be gradually sold in supermarkets branded as ‘Minyak Kita’ issued by the Trade Ministry.Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has informed that currently, people can buy up to 10 liters of bulk cooking oil for Rp14 thousand (US$0.94) per liter by showing their identity card (KTP).
"Previously, one KTP can only be used to buy up to 2 liters of bulk cooking oil, currently people can buy 10 liters by using one ID card," he noted after monitoring the prices of basic necessities at Kosambi Market, Bandung city, West Java, on Thursday.
The new policy has been issued to help the community, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) players, to run their bulk cooking oil business, he added.
"It is also okay if you (MSMEs players) only buy one liter as you can sell it in small shops, packaged in 100 milliliters or 200 milliliters packaging," he said.
He informed that on June 27, 2022, his ministry will invite cooking oil business players and producers to discuss the plan for converting bulk cooking oil into small packaged cooking oil.
"Later, (packaged) cooking oil, which costs Rp14 thousand, will be gradually sold in supermarkets branded as ‘Minyak Kita’ issued by the Trade Ministry," the minister informed.
He further said that he will try to stabilize the prices of basic necessities, especially bulk cooking oil within two weeks, which is much earlier than the original target of one month.
"Today is Thursday, (exactly) one week (I have been inaugurated as the new trade minister). I have promised (that I will stabilize the price within) one month,” he affirmed.
He further said that he is confident that in two weeks, cooking oil stocks will be stable and the commodity will be available everywhere for Rp14 thousand.
He informed that his ministry has established a task force to manage the crisis center to monitor the availability and prices of goods round the clock.
Thus, any disruption in the availability and prices of goods can be reported every day, Hasan said.
“Hence, we can quickly deal with the issue," he added.
