Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi finalized preparations for bilateral talks between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Maryinsky Palace in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Wednesday.

The minister met with her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, on Wednesday morning.

"This morning, I met the Ukrainian foreign minister. We discussed final preparations before the two presidents hold bilateral talks in the afternoon," Marsudi said in a written statement issued from Kyiv on Wednesday.

President Widodo and First Lady Iriana arrived in Kyiv at 8.50 a.m. local time. One hour later, they visited Irpin City, which is located around 30 kilometers from Kyiv, where most buildings have been battered by the ongoing war.

"During the visit to Irpin, Mr. President and the First Lady were accompanied or greeted by the Irpin mayor and were briefed on the condition of the city, where more than 70 percent of the buildings there were affected by the war. After all, 40 percent of Irpin residents have reportedly returned to Irpin City," she informed.

After Irpin, the President and First Lady visited a hospital near Kyiv. During the visit, First Lady Iriana symbolically handed over medicine assistance from the Indonesian Government and People to the hospital.

“In addition to the assistance symbolically handed over by the First Lady, the Indonesian government also extended assistance to the Ukrainian Red Cross and is also committed to helping reconstruct war-affected hospitals," she said.
