Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) facilitates innovation product testing to expedite downstreaming and commercialization of research and innovation results, BRIN's Head Laksana Tri Handoko noted in a statement on BRIN's website on Friday.

"This innovation product testing facilitation scheme is BRIN's step to expedite research result downstreaming that can be an innovation that is not only scientifically proven but also capable of meeting the regulation," he remarked.

Several research results halt at the publication stage in the absence of facilities for product testing that necessitates large funding and resource investment, he stated.

In addition, not all industries are willing to adopt research results deemed to have a high risk of failure and require large investment.

To this end, with budget, infrastructure, and researcher resources, BRIN facilitates and helps researchers to conduct research result product testing in accordance with the applicable standard.

The BRIN can also facilitate the industry in testing innovation products, so that business products can be obtained without requiring large investment funding for testing, Handoko noted.

He expects that BRIN's facilitation can close the risk gap in the downstreaming of research result products with economic value, so that increasingly more number of scientific research result products can be commercialized.

According to BRIN's Research and Facilitation Acting Deputy Agus Haryono, the agency had applied the health innovation product testing scheme.

In addition, it plans to implement a testing scheme for industry technology innovation products that focus on airplane and satellite products in 2023.

"If there are other innovation testing, we are ready to discuss it and await the input concerning schemes that have not yet been supported by the existing schemes, so that we can facilitate research and innovation," he remarked.
