Cooking oil producers or crude palm oil (CPO) factories are required to allocate 20 percent (of  their products) for the local market.
Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has urged cooking oil producers in Lampung province to meet the demand in the local market in order to stabilize the price of the commodity.

"Cooking oil producers or crude palm oil (CPO) factories are required to allocate 20 percent (of their products) for the local market," he said in South Lampung district on Saturday.

The obligation is aimed at maintaining the stability of cooking oil prices in the domestic market, he explained.

"Any (cooking oil) producer in Lampung must participate in meeting (the demand in) the local market through bulk cooking oil and packaged bulk cooking oil, Minyakita, for remote areas," he said.

By doing so, public demand for cooking oil can be met, he added.

"The bulk cooking oil includes packaged Minyakita, which is safe for consumption since its vitamin content is still maintained. We will try to meet the demand for such cooking oil at Rp14 thousand per kilogram," he informed.

The government, through the Trade Ministry, announced earlier that it has prepared export incentives for producers of simple packaged cooking oil of the Minyakita brand.
