The  Transportation Ministry's circular refers to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force's circulars No. 21 and 22 of 2022 concerning domestic and international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry has issued a guide for domestic and international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The guide is laid down in a circular of the Transportation Ministry that will take effect on July 17, 2022.

"The Transportation Ministry's circular refers to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force's circulars No. 21 and 22 of 2022 concerning domestic and international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic," spokesman for the Transportation Ministry Adita Irawati noted in a written statement here on Sunday.

Under the circular, domestic travellers using private vehicles or public transportation modes, including planes, ships, ferry boats, and trains, from one city to another or one region to another are subject to the following rules:

1. Domestic travellers, who have received the third or booster vaccine doses, are exempt from the obligation to show the negative result of the RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test.

2. Domestic travellers, who have received second vaccine doses, are required to show the negative result of a rapid antigen test, with samples taken within the past 24 hours, or the negative result of RT-PCR test, with the samples taken in the past 3X24 hours prior to their departure as a travel requirement and can receive on-site third vaccine doses upon departure.

3. Domestic travellers, who have received first vaccine doses, are required to show the negative result of RT-PCR test, with the samples taken in the past 3X24 hours prior to their departure as a travel requirement.

4. Domestic travellers, with special health conditions or comorbidity, which leaves them unfit to receive vaccination are exempt from vaccination requirements but must show the negative result of RT-PCR test, with the samples taken in the past 3X24 hours prior to their departure and enclose a medical certificate from the government hospital stating that they have not received and/or cannot receive COVID-19 vaccination.

5. Domestic travellers aged 6-17 years must show a second vaccine dose card/certificate without showing the negative result of the RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test.

6. Domestic travellers aged below six years are exempt from vaccination requirements and are required to show the negative result of RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test but must be accompanied by a person, who has met the COVID-19 vaccination and check requirements and follow strict health protocols.

Irawati clarified that the requirements do not apply to routine travel with land transportation modes, private vehicles or public transport modes and trains within one area/urban agglomeration area, and pioneer transportation modes in border areas, outermost, remote and underdeveloped regions and limited shipping in accordance with the condition of respective regions.
