Based on the prediction model data of the minimum surface temperature in the Sembalun area, (the minimum temperature) is 12 degrees Celsius, and the prediction for the maximum surface temperature is 32 degrees CelsiusPraya, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the minimum temperature in Sembalun, the foothills of Mount Rinjani, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, reached 12 degrees Celsius.
"Based on the prediction model data of the minimum surface temperature in the Sembalun area, (the minimum temperature) is 12 degrees Celsius, and the prediction for the maximum surface temperature is 32 degrees Celsius," a forecaster of BMKG, Nur Siti Zulaichah, stated here on Tuesday.
Zulaichah said minimum temperatures were usually recorded between early morning and before dawn, while the maximum temperatures were recorded during the day, so the weather during this dry season was cold at night.

Meanwhile, she said, the minimum air temperature during the rainy season tends to be warmer, lying in the range of 18-24 degrees Celsius.
"The temperature in the Sembalun area is currently colder as compared to that during the rainy season," she pointed out.
She noted that during the dry season, the temperature will be colder than usual, as it is influenced by the Australian monsoon winds that carry dry and cold air masses. She explained that the wind moved from Australia to Asia through Indonesia, especially West Nusa Tenggara.

"During the dry season, the air humidity is relatively low, and the little cloudiness will affect the temperature at night until the morning," she stated.
On a clear night with no clouds, she said, longwave radiation will radiate entirely into space without any reflection back by the clouds.
Zulaichah revealed that the colder temperature at night would occur until August. "Usually, during the peak of the dry season in June, July, and August, temperatures are cooler at night," she explained.
