We hope that the ministry can encourage varsities and schools that already have the Safe Jamu Ambassadors and Safe Cosmetics Ambassadors to be facilitated in implementing their tasks in their environment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) has organized advanced training for Safe Jamu (Indonesian traditional herbal medicine) and Safe Cosmetics ambassadors through its “BPOM Goes to School” series to improve their competency.

"You are the selected and best ambassadors who represent your respective regions," BPOM's deputy for supervision of traditional medicines, health supplements, and cosmetics, Reri Indriani, remarked here on Wednesday.

Being made an ambassador for Safe Jamu and Safe Cosmetics is a gift and is designed to mold the character of the 2045 golden generation, she added.

The ambassadors can contribute to the country by actively promoting the safety and benefits of traditional medicines and cosmetics among the community, she explained.

The activity is held offline at a hotel in Bekasi, West Java, and online via a Zoom meeting for two days, July 13 and 14, 2022.

At least 249 ambassadors—213 Safe Cosmetics Ambassadors and 36 Safe Jamu Ambassadors—from various parts of Indonesia are participating in the event.

Indriani said that the knowledge gained by the ambassadors can be disseminated using information technology so that the message of safe traditional herbal medicines and cosmetics can reach communities.

"So that people can avoid products that are harmful to health," she added.

Furthermore, Indriani said that the ambassadors' duties of carrying out communication, information, and educational activities need to be supported by all parties.

There is a need for collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to help the ambassadors hold activities under the Freedom in Learning and Campus (MBKM) program, she added.

"We hope that the ministry can encourage varsities and schools that already have the Safe Jamu Ambassadors and Safe Cosmetics Ambassadors to be facilitated in implementing their tasks in their environment," she said.
