The workshop was held in line with the directives of Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini in a bid to improve the quality of Papuan human resources.
"All along, ITS has been an important partner of the Social Affairs Ministry in assisting Papuan human resources. We believe that under the tutelage of experts from ITS, they will develop quickly," director of remote community empowerment and entrepreneurship at the Social Affairs Ministry, Juena Br. Sitepu, noted in a written statement received here on Friday.
On a separate occasion, expert of ITS Bambang Sudarmanta stated that the participants were taught about the basics of e-trail electric motorcycle built by the university team. They were informed of the materials, manufacturing process, and length of production.
"The participants were taken to see the location to practice making e-trail electric vehicle. Afterwards, they discussed with the ITS team about the subjects during the workshop," Sitepu stated in Surabaya.
The event, titled "E-trail Electric Motorcycle Manufacturing of Social Entrepreneurship Workshop," had six participants from Puncak Jaya, five from Yahukimo, and five from Cendrawasih University. They received training on July 12-21, 2022.
Sudarmanta expected this workshop to enable the participants to gain an understanding of how to create, use, and take care of electric motorcycles.
"Hence, once the motorcycles are given to the people of Puncak Jaya and Yahukimo, they already know how to use and maintain this electric motorcycle," he stated.

Some participants from Cendrawasih University were lecturers. It was expected that the lecturers, who participated in the workshop, could impart knowledge from ITS to Cendrawasih University, so that the e-trail vehicle could be manufactured in the latter.
He highlighted the high level of enthusiasm among the participants during the course of the workshop.
"They show great curiosity. Asking so many questions and enthusiastic during the event," he recalled.
Papuan human resources had attended several workshops of the Social Affairs Ministry, such as the management of alligator or crocodile skin from Bandung some time ago, fiber ship manufacturing from the team of ITS, and crocodile skin tanning in Jayapura, Papua.
