Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 466,011 housing units were built across Indonesia under the One Million House Program (PSR) until the first semester of 2022, the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry stated.

This figure comprised 382,162 housing units for people from the low-income group and 83,849 housing units for those from the non-low-income group, the Ministry's Housing Director General, Iwan Suprijanto, noted at the ministry's office here on Tuesday.

This figure is estimated to continue to increase until the end of the year, he stated.

According to Suprijanto, the ministry, along with housing stakeholders, such as the regional governments, developers, banks, private sector, and community, will continue to push the development of proper housing for everyone.

This is because house is one of the basic needs of humans that should be fulfilled, in addition to food and clothing. To this end, housing provision for the people necessitates the government's intervention.

The PSR is the realization of acceleration and collaboration between the government and housing development actors to provide proper housing for the people.

The PSR had been planned by President Jokowi since 2015.

Some 117 housing units were developed through the companies' corporate social responsibility (CSR), while 53,303 housing units were developed by the community.
