The state will not tolerate anyone attempting to terrorize, disrupt order and public security, and even cause deaths.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Moeldoko, has affirmed that the government will move swiftly to apprehend and initiate legal action against armed separatists who killed 10 civilians in Nduga, Papua, recently.

"The state will not tolerate anyone attempting to terrorize, disrupt order and public security, and even cause deaths," Moeldoko said in a press statement issued here on Tuesday.

On Saturday (July 16, 2022), members of an armed separatist group attacked civilians in Nogolaid, Nduga, Papua, killing 10 persons, including a priest.

The government vehemently condemns the separatist group's attack, Moeldoko said.

The separatists’ action was cruel and inhumane as they attacked unarmed civilians, he added.

"A religious figure was even killed in this attack. I personally convey my utmost condolences on this incident," the KSP chief remarked.

Earlier, the local police informed that the Egianus Kogoya-led armed separatist group was suspected to be behind Saturday’s attack on civilians in Nduga, Papua.

"It is correct that the suspect of the attack that harmed 11 civilians, which killed ten of them, is the Egianus Kogoya-led armed criminal group," Papua Police's Director of Criminal Investigations, Senior Commissioner Faizal Rahmadani, said on Saturday.

The dead victims were identified as Rev. Elias Serbaye (54), Yulius Watu (23), Habertus Goti (41), Daenk Maramli (41), Taufan Amir (42), Johan (26), Alex (45), Yuda Hurusinga, Has Jon (41), and Sirajudi (27).

In the fatal shooting, two more civilians, identified as Sudirman and Hasdin, sustained gunshot wounds but survived. They have been provided medical treatment.

On Sunday (July 17), the coffins of eight civilians killed in the attack were transported to their hometowns in South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and North Sumatra.
