…actually, the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train should end in Bandung.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Presidential Staff Office, Moeldoko, discussed the construction of a station in Kopo, Bandung, West Java, for the Jakarta-Bandung Whoosh Fast Train with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (PT KCIC) and related institutions.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, he said that the Whoosh Fast Train on the Jakarta-Bandung route is supposed to stop in Bandung.

Currently, the train departs from Halim Station, Jakarta, and reaches Tegalluar Station, West Java, via Karawang and Padalarang stations.

"Please consider this option. Because actually, the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train should end in Bandung," he said during a meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from state-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, and the Ministry of Transportation.

Moeldoko said that efforts to improve connectivity for the Whoosh Fast Train need to be realized to ensure passenger comfort, besides seat availability on feeder trains.

"For the passengers' comfort, the train should not only stop at Padalarang and Tegalluar stations," he emphasized.

His party will continue to coordinate with the relevant ministries and institutions to review the possibility of adding more fast train stations.

"The development must also consider the positive impact on society. We must conduct a study about this," he added.

Meanwhile, the president director of PT KCIC, Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, confirmed that the proposal to develop a high-speed train station in the Kopo area is under consideration.

However, the plan cannot be implemented immediately due to limited funding and land use permits in the area, he informed.

"There are around 30 hectares of land in Kopo and it is possible for Whoosh station. But we do not have the funds yet," Riyadi said.

Meanwhile, acting deputy secretary for investment and mining coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rifky Setiawan, said that further study is needed on the plan for building Kopo Station.

Currently, funding is focused on the operation of four running stations, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.

"If another station is needed, we will focus on the funding side," he added.

At the four high-speed train stations, KCIC is coordinating with several parties to provide intermodal integration for rail passengers.

Halim Station has been linked with Jabodebek LRT, Damri buses to Soekarno Hatta Airport, TransJakarta, and conventional taxi services.

As for Padalarang Station, there are feeder trains for passengers headed to Cimahi Station and Bandung Station, and also Bandung Raya Commuter Line and Garut Commuter Line trains, which can be accessed directly by Whoosh train passengers at the station.

Meanwhile, at Tegalluar Station, passenger access has been eased through the opening of the KM 149 exit toll, the New Cibiru Bridge, and the Damri bus service.
