Magetan, East Java (ANTARA) - The body of First Lieutenant Allan Safitra Indra Wahyudi, the pilot of the T-50i Golden Eagle military aircraft that crashed in Blora, Central Java on Monday, has been flown to Bekasi, West Java, for burial.

The officer's body was transported to Bekasi after he was lied in state at the 15th Air Squadron’s hangar in a military ceremony presided by Iswahjudi Airfield Commander (Magetan), Air Commodore M. Untung Suropati.

"The Indonesian Air Force is deeply saddened by the accident. First Lieutenant Allan Safitra Indra Wahyudi was one of the best pilots of TNI AU," Indonesian Air Force's (TNIAU's) Information Office head, Air Commodore Indan Gilang Buldansyah, said at a press conference held at Iswahjudi Airfield, Magetan, East Java, on Tuesday.

Wahyudi, who graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2015 and the Air Force Aviation School in 2017, joined the 3rd Wing of the Iswahjudi Airport's 15th Air Squadron in 2017, he informed.

The first lieutenant, who logged a total of 822 flight hours in service, spent 623 hours piloting the T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft, Buldansyah said.

He is survived by his wife, Dianka Firsta, whom he married in 2021, he added.

The T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft, piloted by Wahyudi, had lost contact during a night flight training mission on Monday evening. The TT-5009-tail numbered aircraft relayed its last radio contact at 7:07 p.m. local time (UTC +7) the same day.

The aircraft's fate was sealed after debris found by local security officers in Nginggil village, Kradenan sub-district, Blora, Central Java, was confirmed to be that of the missing T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft.

The TNI AU has instituted an aircraft accident investigation committee to probe the crash, and the investigation and aircraft evacuation processes are all ongoing, according to Buldansyah.
