Jakarta (ANTARA) - The G20's Women 20 (W20) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) encourage improving the quality of women's human resources (HR) to maximize their participation in developing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative economy.

"Through W20, we encourage gender equality and increase in women's participation in the economy to achieve an inclusive economy by supporting tourism MSMEs and the creative economy managed by women," Chairwoman of W20 Hadriani Uli Silalahi noted in a statement on Thursday.

W20 is an engagement group in the G20 forum that represents women's voices and change towards women's empowerment. W20 is keen to invite G20 member countries to participate and emphasizes the importance of women's participation in global economic development.

"W20 is committed to representing women's voices in tourism and the creative economy by promoting 'Recover Together and Equality,'" Silalahi stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson for Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) of KADIN, Triawan Munaf, remarked that KADIN was committed to supporting the improvement of MSMEs in the tourism and creative economy sectors managed by Indonesian women.

"We want them to be able to empower, inspire, and be open in the digital economy towards a global economy," Munaf stated.

Furthermore, Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Odo R. M. Manuhutu, emphasized the need to strengthen women's human resources.

“Women in Indonesia need to have financial literacy training and access to finance. Right now, the government is encouraging 30 million MSMEs from 64 million MSMEs to utilize the digital market through the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (BBI) National Movement," he stated.

Furthermore, he lauded the role of Mooryati Soedibyo, as one of the owners of a beauty brand in Indonesia for empowering women, especially in the herbal medicine industry in the country, which had been dominated by women.
