They (the new sources), certainly, cannot be separated from the trends which are occurring in the emerging markets and international community.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is seeking new sources of post-pandemic economic growth to develop a stronger and more sustainable economy, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara informed here on Tuesday.

“We have to find new sources of post-pandemic economic growth. They (the new sources), certainly, cannot be separated from the trends which are occurring in the emerging markets and international community," he remarked at the “2022 Mid-Year Economic Outlook” event.

Efforts to find new sources must pay attention to current trends to anticipate future crises, he added.

A number of trends that can give rise to potential sources of new economic growth are the ‘new normal’ lifestyle, new trade and investment activities, and green economy awareness, including awareness of energy and food security.

Hence, the government has prepared various technological infrastructures, promoted the adoption of new technologies, revitalized high value-added industries, and pushed the implementation of new and renewable energy (EBT) and green economy to support the quest for new economic sources.

Furthermore, the government has also readied several policies to tap into new growth sources, especially in the energy and food sectors.

"We have prepared to consider about it (the development of the new growth sources) and establish the required policies to maintain Indonesia's energy and food security since they are one of the new economic growth sources," the deputy minister added.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, had said that the Job Creation Law could be a means to finding new sources of economic growth.

The government is continuing to encourage industrial downstreaming, digitization, green economy implementation, the achievement of the extreme poverty eradication target by 2024, as well as optimization of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA).

"We encourage these (the attempts), thus the sustainable development (can) run well,” the minister remarked.
