The state does not decline to care (for the terrorism victims or survivors) in the midst of (their) pain and suffering...Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Hasto Atmojo Suroyo said his party along with the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) would continue to improve the dissemination of information on compensation for the victims of terrorism.
"We will continue to disseminate (the information) so it (the compensation) can reach them). That is the most important thing," he stated at the event marking the International Day for Remembrance and Respect for Victims of Terrorism here on Sunday.
The dissemination of the information is necessary since the victims or survivors of terrorism are found across Indonesia and even abroad. Moreover, not all of them know that the government provides compensation for them, he continued.
He also emphasized that the victims or survivors of terrorism are the responsibility of the state.
"The state is present. The state does not decline to care (for the terrorism victims or survivors) in the midst of (their) pain and suffering (as) a ray of light which gives hope," he remarked.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stressed that the government will be fully responsible for fulfilling the rights of victims or survivors of terrorism.
He said t to date, the BNPT and LPSK have provided compensation to 650 people out of a total of 1,370 victims of terrorism.
"It means that there are still about a half of the total of the victims whose compensation need to be processed immediately," he noted.
In addition to the compensation, the BNPT and LPSK also provide medical assistance as well as psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation to the victims or survivors of terrorism.
Every August 21 is observed as International Day for Remembrance and Respect for Victims of Terrorism. The theme of the commemoration in 2022 is ‘Surviving Terrorism: The Power of Memories’.
The commemoration of the international day was held in collaboration between LPSK, BNPT, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Indonesia.
