Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection noted that women's economic empowerment could have a positive impact on parenting.

"In a bilateral meeting with the UK, we raised the issue of empowering women from an economic perspective because it will have a positive impact on issues experienced by women, such as parenting," General Chairperson of the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment (MCWE), Lenny N. On the sidelines of the G20 MCWE, Rosalin said that the bilateral meeting was conducted by Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, with Minister for Women of the UK, Baroness Stedman-Scott.

During the meeting, she noted that empowering women in the economic aspect will increase the family's income, so that they can provide better education and food for their children.

In addition, increasing women's income can reduce violence against women and children as well as prevent child labor and child marriages, she further noted.

Rosalin, who concurrently serves as the ministry's Deputy for Gender Equality, said that at the meeting, Minister Puspayoga conveyed the initiatives implemented by Indonesia, such as women and children-friendly villages.

"We have agreed to cooperate more closely with the European Union. We will immediately arrange and refine the program and then immediately implement it," she remarked.

In addition to holding bilateral meetings with the UK and the European Union, the ministry held meetings with Australia and several other countries, such as Canada, to empower women and protect children.
