The (analog switch-off) implementation, earlier planned to take place in three stages (on April 30, August 25, and November 2, 2022), will be adjusted to the regional readiness-based implementation, with the target date of the nationwide migration toJakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics confirmed that the nationwide analog switch-off (ASO) will no longer take place in three stages as planned earlier but instead by taking into account the respective region's readiness.
"The (analog switch-off) implementation, earlier planned to take place in three stages (on April 30, August 25, and November 2, 2022), will be adjusted to the regional readiness-based implementation, with the target date of the nationwide migration to digital broadcast by November 2, 2022," according to the ministry's statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, the decision to adjust the implementation aims to make the transition more effective and reduce possible hindrances in the process.
Three aspects in a particular region -- conditions of the analog television broadcast, readiness to receive digital broadcast, and the distribution rate of set-top-box units among poorer households -- will be taken into account in deciding the readiness to switch to digital broadcast.
The ASO preparation is currently focused in the Greater Jakarta region, the ministry said.
"According to the statement delivered during the virtual public discussion on August 19, 2022, the preparation for the ASO is now centered in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi regions," according to the statement.

The ministry also urged multiplexing broadcasters to adhere to the earlier commitment to distribute set-top box units to eligible recipients nationwide to allow them to enjoy digital television broadcasts.
Dissemination of information on ASO will also continue throughout the transition period until November 2.
Residents are encouraged to purchase set-top boxes if their television units are capable of only receiving analogue broadcast, while producers and merchants of set-top box units are urged to ensure the availability of set-top box units for residents.
"All residents, who have the opportunity to migrate to digital television broadcasting, are encouraged to do so immediately," the ministry's statement concluded.
