So, the government is preparing human resources that can secure Indonesia's cyberspace in the futureJakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry is collaborating with UPN Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) to improve digital literacy in the education sector.
"Digital literacy is very important for everyone, with no exception, especially for students as the nation's next generation who are expected to become superior human resources to greet the Digital 5.0 era," director of information empowerment at the ministry, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said in a statement on Friday.
There are three levels of digital literacy skills, namely basic digital skills, intermediate digital skills, and advanced digital skills.
The government is running a program to improve digital literacy skills at all three levels.

The government, through the Communication and Information Ministry, is offering an Intermediate Digital Skill and Advanced Digital Skill program. By offering training on coding, big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, among others, the ministry is expecting to add 200 thousand digital talents, or a third of the total target of 600 thousand.
It is providing training on platforms, such as Facebook, Google, Oracle, and more.
“The government will provide training for three months and then (the participant) will have to take an exam for certification. In addition, advanced (programs) are intended for regional heads or leaders of institutions and private companies to take part in digital-related training at various campuses, such as MIT, Cornell, Harvard, Imperial College, Shinwa, Oxford, and others," he informed.
“So, the government is preparing human resources that can secure Indonesia's cyberspace in the future," he added.

Pudjianto also called attention to the importance of ethics in the digital world, especially in understanding and exercising caution while using social media, as well as paying attention to Internet etiquette.
“Ethics in the real and digital worlds are the same. Don't do cyberbullying, defamation, and spread bad things. The legal consequences in the real and digital worlds are the same," he said.
The collaboration with UPNVY is part of a series of activities under the digital literacy training program, which was initiated and launched by the ministry on May 20, 2021.
The program has been rolled out in all provinces of Indonesia, with the target of educating at least 50 million people about digital technology by 2024.
The education sector is one of the three sectors targeted by the digital literacy program, besides the general public and government sectors.
