"The regulation stipulates the acceleration of Rebana and southern West Java’s development, which can be carried out by providing infrastructure and increasing investment," he said in Bandung on Monday.
Southern West Java regions consist of Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut, Ciamis, Tasikmalaya, and Pangandaran, while Rebana comprises the districts of Subang, Majalengka, Sumedang, Indramayu, Cirebon, and Kuningan as well as Cirebon City.
"We have support from the central government, which is (in the form of) the Presidential Regulation No. 87 (of 2021), which allocates Rp180 trillion for the southern regions of West Java until 2024," Kamil pointed out.
According to the governor, with the help of the presidential regulation, efforts to equalize the economy in the southern regions of West Java can be realized.
"In its path, we have a concept that Rebana enhances the economy, while south of West Java equalizes the economy. Soon, there will be credit agreements (akad kredit) with 400 residents through the Kredit Mesra program, which is interest-free, without collateral, but for per group consists of five," Kamil informed.
The West Java governor said that besides the presidential regulation, the Kredit Mesra Program can help revive the economy of southern West Java regions.
"This is how the West Java provincial government is ensuring that the lowest group can access (financing or loans), instead of being wronged by loan sharks or (illegal) online lending," he added.
Moreover, through the widened infrastructure of the main line Jalur Tengah Selatan, access to the regions can be made easier, thereby boosting the sectors of fisheries, agriculture, tourism, and sports, he said.
"That is the future of southern West Java, which is beautiful, which is extraordinary," he remarked.
