"It is in accordance with the circular that regulates travel requirements for domestic routes airplane passengers, where every airplane passenger aged 18 years and over is required to have received the third dose of the vaccine or booster (dose)," VP of Corporate Communications at AP II Akbar Putra Mardhika informed here on Monday.
The new policy has been implemented following the issuance of Circular Letter of the Ministry of Transportation Number 82 of 2022 concerning guidelines for the implementation of domestic travel.
He said that with the enforcement of the new requirement, prospective passengers who have received only the first and second vaccine doses will not be allowed to travel domestically by plane.
The circular regulates the exceptions for the new travel requirement, such as airplane passengers who cannot receive vaccines due to health conditions, domestic travelers aged 6–17 years, and foreigners coming from overseas.
"However, for domestic travelers aged 6–17 years, they are required to have received the second vaccine dose," Mardhika clarified.
Meanwhile, foreigners taking domestic flights will only be required to use the Indonesian government's COVID-19 tracing application, PeduliLindungi, and fulfill the travel requirements according to the existing regulations.
Based on the newly issued circular, domestic travelers who cannot get vaccinated due to health conditions will be required to show a medical certificate from a government hospital, he added.
He affirmed that his party along with all airport stakeholders will ensure that the ministry's circular is implemented in accordance with the existing regulations.
"AP II and stakeholders will fully collaborate so that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, every AP II airport can operate robustly, adapt quickly, and move quickly by prioritizing operational leanness," he remarked.
