Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - Admiral Hadi Pranoto, chief of Indonesia's Coast Guard (Bakamla) Office, West Maritime Zone, Batam, Riau Islands, received a delegation led by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy's Naval Region 4 Command on Tuesday.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the brotherhood of the two institutions, Pranoto informed in a statement released here on Tuesday.

"Thank you for the visit to the Kamla Headquarters for West Maritime Zone. The visit of Capt Nguyen Van Ngan (Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnamese Navy's Naval Region 4 Command) and delegation is an honor for Bakamla," he remarked.

During the meeting, Admiral Pranoto outlined Bakamla's big tasks in implementing Government Regulation No. 13 of 2022 concerning security, safety, and law enforcement at sea.

Among the activities carried out to improve the security of the country's maritime area have been joint patrols involving the Navy(AL), Water, and Air Police (Polairud), the Supervision of Marine and Fishery Resources (PSDKP), the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), and the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP).

"Joint patrol is the best way, at this time, that can be used to maintain maritime security and safety in Indonesia. With the harmony of the elements of joint patrols, there will be no build-up nor vacancies in certain areas. Moreover, it is effective and efficient for the implementation of maritime security and safety and law enforcement," Pranoto said.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Ngan said that the meeting between Bakamla and the Vietnam People's Navy delegation was a very good collaboration.

He also invited Pranoto and his staff to a cocktail reception on Ship 012-Ly Thai To, which will dock at Batu Ampar Harbor in September.
