"MIHAS is back again this year, bigger and better than ever before," CEO of MATRADE, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, remarked during a media briefing in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
This year’s event will be the 18th edition of the halal product exhibition. The 17th edition of MIHAS was held in 2021.
While MIHAS 2021 was held virtually, this year's MIHAS will be held in a hybrid format and combine the best of conventional and virtual exhibition formats.
Mustafa said that over the years, MIHAS has grown and positioned itself as the world's largest halal exhibition as well as the go-to platform for business connectivity within the fast-growing as well as wide-ranging halal segment.
According to Global Islamic Economic Indicators, the global halal market is projected to grow from US$2.09 trillion in 2021 to almost US$3.27 trillion by 2028.
"This is an indication of the enormous potential and wide opportunities in the global halal market," Mustafa said.
Besides food and beverages, halal products from 12 other segments will be exhibited at the MIHAS event, including services and enablers, cosmetics and personal care products, fashion, food technology, pharmaceuticals, media and recreation, e-commerce, Islamic finance, tourism, franchise, education, as well as Islamic arts and crafts.
MIHAS will feature more than 1,300 booths, exceeding the initial target, with the top five exhibiting countries comprising Kuwait, Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa, and Palestine.
MIHAS 2022 is expected to attract a large number of participants from more than 30 countries.
