Jakarta (ANTARA) - The number of Indonesians who have received the third or booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine reached 62.49 million as of 12 noon on Saturday, according to the COVID-19 task force.

Data received from the task force here showed that the number of people receiving the third dose increased by 153,220 on Saturday, bringing the total count to 62,496,583, or 26.63 percent of the 234,666,020 million targeted recipients.

Meanwhile, the number of people receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine increased by 153,220 to reach 170,910,257, or 72.83 percent of the total target.

Further, the number of recipients of the first dose increased by 33,364 to reach 204,301,774, or 87.06 percent of the total target.

The coverage of fourth dose vaccinations, which are still targeting health workers, increased by 12,592 to reach 542,307.

Spokesperson for the Health Ministry, Mohammad Syahril, urged the managers of shopping centers, malls, as well as public transport operators to reopen COVID-19 vaccination center services.

"Actually, the government has provided facilities for vaccination, from health centers, clinics, to hospitals. I think it would be great if the stations, airports, malls (provided similar services) as well," he added.

He said the government needs to pursue the vaccination program again, especially booster vaccinations for the intended recipients.

According to Syahril, efforts to establish vaccination centers would involve all stakeholders, such as the National Defense Force, Police Force, and private entrepreneurs.

"If it is hosted again and information is provided to the public, so that people will also support this vaccination, the number can increase," he added.
