Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria has invited alumni of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to help develop the capital city into a smart city.

"The theme is to upgrade Jakarta into a smart city for big data," the Deputy Governor was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Jakarta's Alumni Association (IA) of ITB here on Sunday.

Patria, who is concurrently chairman of the Advisory Council of Jakarta's IA of ITB , said the capital city has a program to become a modern, advanced and equal to other cities in the world.

Chairman of the ITB IA Gembong Primadjaya said he saw an opportunity to contribute for the development of Jakarta and for the people of Jakarta in the post-COVID 19 pandemic era.

"There is a window of opportunity for Jakarta's IA of ITB to give contribution. Our tasks are quite tough , especially those are present here, namely to get together and contribute for the Jakarta people," he said.

Chairman of Jakarta's IA of ITB Damoza Nirwan said the contribution of Jakarta's alumni association of ITB for the people of Jakarta must be realized in a tangible way and can be felt by the citizens of Jakarta.

"While studying at ITB, we were subsidized by the government, hence it's time for us to give back to the society. We must contribute both in energy, mind, and material with the spirit of giving back to the society," said .

He said the association would hold a series of discussions with stakeholders, experts, and practitioners on the Jakarta smart city development based on the integration of big data .
