Head of IADO, Gatot Dewa Broto, said that in accordance with the regulations, the implementation of an international sports competition has to include doping control measures.
"The goal is to ensure that the champions from each event contested are not indicated to consume prohibited substances as listed by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency)," he explained here on Saturday.
The involvement of IADO in monitoring the participants of the tournament is in response to a request from the organizing committee of the IFSC World Cup Series Jakarta, which was conveyed through a letter on September 22, 2022.
"IADO has been given the authority as the TA (testing authority) to carry out doping control on the athletes," Broto informed.
In accordance with the provisions set by international sports organizations, the winners of the four events at the IFSC World Cup Series Jakarta 2022, namely men’s and women’s speed as well as men’s and women’s lead events, will undergo a doping test.
"In addition, tentatively, the athletes who break world records (will also be tested). In this competition, IADO has deployed four DCOs (doping control officers) who are very experienced in international tournaments," the IADO head informed.
The doping test will involve taking urine samples from athletes at the Doping Control Station (DCS) in the competition arena, he said.
“Then, (the samples will be) directly sent by IADO to the WADA-accredited anti-doping laboratory in Bangkok, Thailand," he added.
The IFSC World Cup Series Jakarta was officially inaugurated on Saturday by Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali.
The competition is being held at Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) Lot 16-17, Jakarta, from September 24–26, 2022.
