"We continue to conduct massive and simultaneous control and prevention efforts by involving all parties, both at the central and regional levels," Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Ministry, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, noted in Jakarta, Monday.
He remarked that strengthening prevention and control efforts were made, as transmission of the dengue virus that causes dengue fever usually tended to increase during the transitional season.
Data from the Directorate of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health shows that from the start of the year until the 36th week of 2022, the cumulative number of dengue transmission cases in Indonesia was recorded at 87,501, with a ratio of 31.38 cases per 100 thousand population and 816 deaths, with the CFR at 0.93 percent.

"In general, there has been an increase in dengue cases. Most cases occurred in the age group of 14 to 44 years, as many as 38.96 percent, and (in the age group of) five to 14 years, with 35.61 percent," Rondonuwu remarked.
Additional cases of dengue transmission were reported in 64 districts and cities in the provinces of West Java, East Java, Central Java, and East Kalimantan.
Districts and cities, with high cases of dengue transmission include Bandung City, with 4,196 cases; Bandung District, 2,777 cases; Bekasi City, 2,059 cases; Sumedang District, 1,647 cases; and Tasikmalaya City, 1,542 cases.
The number of deaths due to dengue virus infection from the start of the year until the 36th week of 2022 was recorded to have increased by 111 as compared to 2021.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, in 2021, dengue infection cases amounted to 73,518, with 705 mortality cases in 203 districts and cities.
The number of cases of dengue transmission from the start of the year until the 36th week of 2022 was recorded at 87,501, with the number of patients succumbing to it reaching 816 people in 225 cities and districts.

The Directorate of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control has sent a letter to all regional heads in Indonesia to increase awareness by actively making efforts to control dengue transmission.
Efforts to prevent and control dengue transmission include the 1 house 1 larva monitoring movement, or G1R1J, and the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) activity, with 3M Plus implementation in public places and institutions to achieve a larva-free rate above 95 percent.
Other efforts include strengthening surveillance for early detection of increasing cases and responding quickly to potential outbreaks of dengue transmission, conducting integrated vector control, increasing early detection of dengue infection in community health centers (puskesmas), conducting epidemiological investigations, and revitalizing Dengue Operational Working Groups (POKJANAL) at the provincial, district, and village level.
"We hope that this early control effort would be carried out in an integrated, massive, sustainable, and targeted manner to suppress dengue cases," Rondonuwu concluded.
