Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign nationals will need to create an e-ticket on the government’s PeduliLindungi website for accessing COVID-19 vaccination services in Indonesia, the Ministry of Health has said.

To get the e-ticket, foreign nationals will need to register and log into the www.pedulilindungi.id website and choose from the vaccine menu, Health Minister’s expert staff for health technology, Setiaji, explained at a press conference that was followed online from here on Friday.

To e-ticket will be issued after they click on the foreign citizen section and submit their identity proof according to the limited stay permit (KITAS) or permanent stay permit (KITAP), or other permits.

“Foreigners need to create a vaccination e-ticket through the PeduliLindungi web(site) and bring it (the e-ticket) during vaccination, including their passport and residence permits,” Setiaji informed.

The Ministry of Health has expanded the COVID-19 vaccination service to foreign nationals in Indonesia as part of efforts to protect the community from the risk of virus transmission.

"This is one of our efforts to ensure foreign nationals, who are living or staying temporarily and permanently, have easy access to vaccination as well as to prevent possible transmission," the ministry's spokesperson, Mohammad Syahril, said in a written statement received here on Tuesday.

The policy is laid down in the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07/MENKES/1368/2022 concerning the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for foreigners from September 2022 at available healthcare facilities.

COVID-19 vaccinations for foreign nationals are being conducted under the government's nationwide program targeting those holding a KITAS or a KITAP.

As part of efforts to boost community immunity, the Indonesian government initiated a nationwide immunization program on January 13, 2021, targeting as many as 234,666,020 citizens.

According to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of September 30, 2022, as many as 204,578,791 Indonesians have received the first vaccine dose, 171,186,063 have been administered the second dose, 63,552,350 have taken the third dose or first booster, and 616,024 have received the fourth dose or second booster.
