Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto affirmed that economic cooperation between Indonesia and Germany recorded significant growth in the 70th year of bilateral relations.

"In 2021, Germany is Indonesia's largest trade partner among European countries, with the total trade value having reached US$6 billion, while during the 2015-2021 period, the total investment value of Germany in Indonesia had reached US$1 billion, and with more than 250 German companies operating in Indonesia," Hartarto noted on his statement on Thursday.

The coordinating minister expressed confidence that the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IU-CEPA) would bolster trade and investment between both countries.

Indonesia and Germany would also intensify collaboration in the development of clean and renewable energy, green infrastructure, and green financing as evidenced by President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) presence at the latest G7 Summit in Germany, he affirmed.

He pointed out that Indonesia and Germany had discussed and committed to enhancing solid partnership in realizing Industry 4.0 in the earlier meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Economic Affairs and Climate Action Minister Robert Habeck.

"Next year, Indonesia will become the official partner country of Hannover Messe. I hope the momentum would help in expanding and deepening economic cooperation between Indonesia and Germany," Hartarto noted.

The coordinating minister also affirmed that Indonesia and Germany welcomed the initiative to develop a joint economic and investment committee between both countries.

"I also wish to convey our high hopes for the presence of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Bali for the G20 Summit later. I believe that this is the time for our two countries to use the momentum to develop a strong partnership," Hartarto remarked.
